A destination image as a type of image and measuring destination image in tourism (Amasra Case)

The fundamental aim of this study is to determine the necessity of measuring the present image of the destinations that are important in tourism marketing and then decide a marketing strategy parallel to this image. Accordingly in this study, the concepts of image, destination, destination image are defined to provide unity by the light of the scientific studies related to these concepts. Amasra region is chosen as the pilot region and the present image of Amasra is tried to be determined. The data gathered from 430 visitors are analyzed with the SPSS statics program. Factor analysis is used as statistical method. As a result of the study, it is stated that the visitors are affected by 5 factors while evaluating the image of Amasra region. The explanatory power of these five factors is %57. It is deduced that the visitors are affected by history and cultural heritage, shopping and food, peaceful environment, clean environment, architecture and infrastructure of the region while evaluating the destination image.
