A congenital cystic mass was detected at the suprasternal notch of a seven-month-old male infant. After radiologic examinations including ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging, the cyst was excised and diagnosed as a dermoid cyst. Dermoid cysts of the head and neck are rare lesions, but a midline location is characteristic for these congenital masses. To our knowledge, only two reports have been published, which were similar to our case in localization. Dermoid cysts should be included in the differential diagnosis of midline cysts.

Hemangiomas of the bone account for 0.7% of all bone tumors. The craniofacial region is a rare site of involvement, with the mandible, zygoma, and maxilla being the most frequently affected areas. Hemangioma of the nasal bone is very rare. A 60-year-old male patient presented with complaints of difficult breathing through the nasal airway and a slowly growing hard mass at the nasion with a history of 10 years. Computed tomography demonstrated a round mass involving the left nasal bone with submucosal extension. An en bloc excision of the mass and its extension was performed. Histopathological examination showed two neighboring tumor . . .s, cavernous hemangioma of the bone and arteriovenous malformation of the nasal mucosa. During a-year follow-up, the patient had no complaints and the functional and cosmetic results were excellent Daha fazlası Daha az

Diagnosis of foreign body in the nasal cavity may be difficult because it has a wide variety of presentations. Concha bullosa is defined as the pneumatization of the middle concha in various degrees. A 43-year-old female patient was admitted to our clinic with the complaint of breathing difficulty through her right nostril which had been going on for the last year. She had had some medical treatments previously in some different medical centers, there wasn't purulent discharge with unpleasant odour, bleeding and halitosis in the nose and there wasn't a history of a blow to the nose or a history of previous facial, nasal or dental su . . .rgery. In the computed tomography there was an image resembling concha bullosa. Transnasal endoscopic approach was used, under general anesthesia, in the patient, whose physical examination results, laboratory findings and allergy test results were normal. Endoscopic sinus surgery was performed including polypectomy, right uncinektomy and the foreign body was removed from the middle meatus using a forceps. No complications were observed in the follow-up control one month later Daha fazlası Daha az

OBJECTIVES: We evaluated the long-term results of radiofrequency-assisted posterior transverse cordotomy in a rabbit model. STUDY DESIGN: Ten healthy New Zealand rabbits were subjected to videolaryngoscopic examination following intraperitoneal anesthesia with 20 mg/kg thiopental. After local infiltration anesthesia with lidocaine, a laryngofissure procedure and exposition of the vocal cords were carried out and posterior transverse cordotomy was performed to the right vocal cord in the cutting mode using radiofrequency waves (Ellman Surgitron). The thyroid cartilage was closed in anatomic position and the rabbits were followed-up f . . .or three months, after which videolaryngoscopic examination was repeated. The rabbits were then sacrificed for histopathologic examination. RESULTS: At the end of the follow-up period, videolaryngoscopic examination showed neo-cordogenesis in the right vocal cord region. Histological examination showed closure of the operation site by granulation tissue and fibrosis. CONCLUSION: The opening created in the rabbit larynx using radiofrequency was filled by granulation tissue and fibrosis in the long-term Daha fazlası Daha az

We presented a case of Kaposi's sarcoma that occurred in the external ear of a 36-year-old Caucasian man. He was otherwise healthy without a history of any predisposing factors. He had a nodular lesion in the left ear, of three-month duration. The lesion was excised completely. Histologic and immunohistologic findings were consistent with a diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma. Serologic analyses were negative for anti-HIV antibody and anti-cytomegalovirus IgM and IgG and blood count was normal. Differential count of leucocytes and immunoglobulin electrophoresis were normal. During a two-year follow-up, no recurrences, development of new l . . .esions, or HIV seroconversion were detected. To our knowledge, this case is the first to report a solitary lesion of Kaposi's sarcoma occurring in the helix of the ear in a healthy young patient Daha fazlası Daha az

OBJECTIVES: Many studies have been carried out to investigate the individual effects of vitamin C, vitamin E, and ibuprofen on flap viability, with favorable results. This study aimed to determine the effect of combined use of these agents on flap viability. DESIGN AND METHODS: Sixty Wistar rats weighing 250-300 grams were divided into six groups, equal in number, to receive saline solution (group 1, control), vitamin C (group 2), vitamin E (group 3), vitamin C and E (group 4), ibuprofen (group 5), and vitamin C, vitamin E, and ibuprofen (group 6). Following ketamine anesthesia, a caudally based reverse McFarlane flap on the back of . . . the rats, 3x10 cm in size, was elevated and sutured back. The agents were administered intraperitoneally once daily for seven days, after which viable flap areas were estimated. RESULTS: The percentages of the viable area of the flaps in groups 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 were 58.0%, 68.1%, 61.4%, 73.4%, 69.1%, and 80.5%, respectively. The use of vitamin C, vitamin E, and ibuprofen in combination resulted in a significantly greater flap viability compared to individual uses. CONCLUSION: Administering vitamin E and vitamin C together has a greater effect on flap viability than used alone; however, the benefit is the greatest with the addition of ibuprofen Daha fazlası Daha az

Brown tumor of the paranasal sinuses is rare. It is a benign fibro-osseous lesion, typically presenting as an expansile mass that leads to a cortical defect. We presented the radiological findings of a brown tumor of the right maxillary sinus in a 13-year-old boy who presented with complaints of swelling in the right maxillary region, headache, and epistaxis. Biochemical findings were compatible with primary hyperparathyroidism. The lesion was removed by partial parathyroidectomy. No recurrences or residual mass were detected during a six-month follow-up period.

Fibrous dysplasia is an uncommon benign disease of the bone, with slow progression. Monostotic involvement of the paranasal sinuses is rare. We report a 54-year-old woman who had complaints of facial asymmetry, chronic sinusitis, recurrent headaches, and nasal obstruction for two years. Conventional radiography showed opacification and expansion of the maxillary sinus. Axial and coronal computed tomography scans showed a heterogeneous mass that expanded the right maxillary sinus, leading to nasal obstruction and cortical thickening of the maxilla. No signs of destruction or erosion in the cortical bone were identified. An endonasal . . .endoscopic biopsy was performed and the diagnosis of fibrous dysplasia was confirmed histologically Daha fazlası Daha az

Lipoma of the deep lobe of the parotid gland is extremely rare. A forty-two-year-old man presented with a painless, soft, and slow-growing mass in the left preauricular area. Ultrasonography and computed tomography findings were consistent with lipoma. The patient was treated with superficial parotidectomy and total excision of the mass with preservation of the facial nerve. Histologic findings confirmed the diagnosis. No recurrences were detected during 1.5 years in the postoperative period.
