The investigation of the neutron emission spectra of Th-232 and U-238 for neutron incident energy from 2 to 18 MeV

In this study, experimental neutron-emission spectra produced by (n, xn) reactions on nuclei Th-232 have been compared with experimental U-238(n, xn) neutron-emission spectra from 2 to 18 MeV. Angle-integrated cross-sections in neutron induced reactions on targets U-238 have been calculated at the bombarding energies from 2 to 18 MeV. In the calculations, the geometry dependent hybrid model and the cascade exciton model including the effects of pre-equilibrium have been used. In addition, we have described how multiple pre-equilibrium emissions can be included in the Feshbach-Kerman-Koonin (FKK) fully quantum-mechanical theory. In this study, by using the pre-equilibrium and equilibrium reaction mechanisms, the cross-sections of (n, p) reactions on S-32, Zn-64, Zn-67, Y-89, Zr-90 and Eu-153 targets have been calculated. The excitation functions of (n, p) reactions on S-32, Zn-64, Zn-67, Y-89, Zr-90 and Eu-153 targets by using the hybrid model, the geometry dependent hybrid model and the exciton model of pre-equilibrium reaction mechanism at the energies in the range 1-20 MeV have been investigated. To investigate the equilibrium effects, the Weisskopf-Ewing model is used. We have calculated the nuclear binding energy per particle, root mean square (rms) charge radii, neutron and proton densities, and density dependent initial exciton numbers of the target nuclei S-32, Zn-64, Zn-67, Y-89, Zr-90 and Eu-153 used for production of the therapeutic radionuclides P-32, Cu-64, Cu-67, Sr-89, Y-90 and Sm-153. The calculations are performed using the Skyrme Hartree-Fock (SHF) and Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (SHFB) approximations based on an effective Skyrme force.
