Sahin, I. | Billur, A. A. | Inan, S. C. | Sahin, B. | Koksal, M. | Tektas, P. | Alici, E.

Makale | 2013 | PHYSICAL REVIEW D88 ( 9 )

We have examined TeV scale effects of extra spatial dimensions through the processes gamma q -> gamma q, where q = u, d, c, s, b, (u) over bar, (d) over bar, (c) over bar, (s) over bar, (b) over bar. These processes have been treated in a photon-proton collision via the main reaction pp -> p gamma p -> p gamma qX at the LHC. We have employed the equivalent photon approximation for incoming photon beams and performed statistical analysis for various forward detector acceptances.

Teacher opinions on use of self-regulation strategies at science and art centers: Turkey sample

Eker C. | İnce M.

Makale | 2018 | Universal Journal of Educational Research6 ( 7 ) , pp.1486 - 1496

The purpose of this study is to identify the usage status of self-regulation strategies at Science and Art Centers (BİLSEMs) that provide the gifted students with education in Turkey. This research was designed within qualitative study and survey model was used. It was conducted with 24 teachers at Science and Art Centers each in the Western Black Sea, Marmara and Aegean regions in Turkey. The teacher interview form designed by the researchers was used as the data collection instrument. Descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were used for analyzing the data. It was concluded in the research that the teachers do not find t . . .hemselves competent about self-regulation strategies. The most observed self-regulation deficiencies among BİLSEM students are deficiencies of motivation and meta-cognitive strategies. The teachers think that BİLSEM curricula do not aim to bring self-regulation skills to students. It was determined that the activities performed by teachers in BİLSEM curricula (Adaptation, Supportive Education, Realizing Individual Abilities, Improving Special Skills, and Project) are rather for actualizing motivation, meta-cognitive and cognitive strategies. © 2018 by authors, all rights reserved Daha fazlası Daha az

Effects of phenolic compounds on differentiation of cambium and tracheal elements in graft unions of olive cultivars (Olea europaea L.)

Ozkaya, M. T. | Azimi, M. | Colgecen, H. | Buyukkartal, H. N.

Konferans nesnesi | 2018 | VIII INTERNATIONAL OLIVE SYMPOSIUM1199 , pp.81 - 85

Olive 'Gemlik' has been planted in different ecological zones in Turkey; growers have begun to focus on some problems of yield and quality, and they would like to use grafting (top-working) with local cultivars. Although there is no problem of grafting compatibility between cultivars according to the literature, it has proved very difficult to give advice to growers for top-working because problems have been encountered when grafted local cultivars onto 'Gemlik' rootstock. The plant material used in this study consisted of cultivars 'Ayvalik', 'Domat', 'Gemlik', 'Memecik', 'Nizip Yaglik' and 'Sari Ulak'. These cultivars were grafted . . . (T-budding) onto 1-year-old 'Gemlik' rootstock propagated by cuttings. According to the results of phenolic compound variance analysis, high levels of 4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, vanillic acid and ferulic acid content were determined in 'Ayvalik', 'Nizip Yaglik' and 'Domat'. As a result, we showed that, during recovery of the graft zone, development of new cambium tissues, vascular connections and sclerenchyma tissues occurred imperfectly in 'Ayvalik', 'Domat' and 'Nizip Yaglik' when grafted onto 'Gemlik' rootstocks. For this reason, the graft zones of these combinations were weak Daha fazlası Daha az

Homework as a metacognitive tool in an undergraduate physics course

Mota, Ana Rita | Korhasan, Nilufer Didis | Miller, Kelly | Mazur, Eric

Makale | 2019 | PHYSICAL REVIEW PHYSICS EDUCATION RESEARCH15 ( 1 ) , pp.81 - 85

A considerable body of research shows that individuals who demonstrate a wide variety of metacognitive skills perform better on scientific problem solving. We developed a way of implementing homework in an undergraduate physics course to promote metacognitive skills. This novel homework design includes both an individual and a team phase and was implemented in a team-based learning environment. We developed a coding table to conduct both qualitative and quantitative analyses of students' expressions of metacognitive thinking. Results indicate that students' expressions of metacognitive thinking improved during the term. Data also sh . . .ow that team discussion helps improve metacognitive skills Daha fazlası Daha az

Ottoman-Russion Struggle for Power Over Wallachia and Moldavia from The Treaty of Kaynarca Until The Treaty of Yas

Yuksel, Sinan

Makale | 2019 | BELLETEN83 ( 297 ) , pp.1563 - 1578

Treaty of Kucuk Kaynarca was one that changed all balances for the benefit of Russia and paved the way for the accretion of Crimean Dynasty. In addition, this treaty was qualified enough to be able to rise the influence of Russia in Wallachia and Moldavia. After the implementation of treaty, Russia and the Ottoman Empire began to struggle for power over Crimea and then, regions of Wallachia and Moldavia. By having annexed Crimea in 1783, Russia removed the most important obstacle for expansion towards the Black Sea and the Balkans. The regions of Wallachia and Moldavia became more important for two empires afterwards. While Russia wa . . .s trying to increase its influence by assigning a consul in the region, the Ottoman Empire, being unable to prevent it meantime, tried to disallow the decrease of its power over region by closely following the activities of Principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia, and Russian Consulate. However, the activities of Russian Consulate there and the precedence of Russia in wars held between two empires gradually led the increase of Russian influence over the regions of Wallachia and Moldavia Daha fazlası Daha az

Spectrophotometric determination of the pK(alpha) values of some aminoacid complexes of pentacyanoferrate(II) and pentacyanoruthenate(II)

Baran, Y | Baran, S | Tunali, NK

Makale | 1997 | TURKISH JOURNAL OF CHEMISTRY21 ( 2 ) , pp.105 - 110

The syntheses, pK(a) and spectrospcopic characterization of [Fe(CN)(5)(H2O)](-3) and [Ru(CN)(5)(H2O)](-3) complexes of alanine(Ala), glycine(Gly), valine(Val), lysine(lys), arginine(Arg) and cysteine(Cys) complexes were investigated in aqueous solution. The spectra of the complexes containing amino acid ligands were similar to that of [Fe(CN)(5)(NH3)](-3). The pK(a) values of the complexes were measured by spectrophotometric titration at 22 degrees C and mu = 0.100 M(NaClO4).

An investigation of the O-16+O-16 elastic scattering by using alpha-alpha double folding potential in optical model formalism

Kurkcuoglu, M. E. | Aytekin, H. | Boztosun, I.

Makale | 2006 | MODERN PHYSICS LETTERS A21 ( 29 ) , pp.2217 - 2232

In this paper, a simultaneous analysis of the elastic scattering data of the 16o+160 system for the energy range 5-10 MeV/nucleon is performed theoretically within the framework of the optical model formalism, by using the alpha-alpha double folding cluster potential. The a-a double folding cluster potential is evaluated by using the alpha-cluster distribution densities in the usual nucleon-nucleon double folding process with an effective alpha-alpha interaction potential. The results of the a-a double folding cluster potential analysis are compared with the findings of the phenomenological Woods-Saxon squared and nucleon-nucleon do . . .uble folding potentials. All potentials have exhibited a very good agreement with the experimental measurements for the elastic scattering angular distributions. Furthermore, it is shown that, the a-a double folding cluster potential and nucleon-nucleon double folding potential calculations provide very consistent results with each other. Thus, the O-16+O-16 system has been described by optical potentials having a deep real potential part and a weak absorptive imaginary potential part Daha fazlası Daha az
