In this study, a clustering algorithm based on adaptive neural fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was used for computer-assisted diagnosis of the vertebral column disorder from machine learning databases of UCI (University of California Irvine). Features of pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt and lumbar lordosis angle given in this dataset was applied to the inputs of the algorithm. The performance of algorithm was evaluated using mean square error and regression coefficient criteria to discriminate patients with vertebral column disease from healthy subjects. As a result, the classification performance of 90.82% was obtained by using the gen . . .erated model of ANFIS. © 2018 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

In this stuidy, the position information from ultrasound sensors on UAV related to floor gallery mine passed through the filter, it is aimed to control the position of simultaneously creating the optimum environmental map. The simultaneous in galleries made mapping, mine the data of air to the designated central monitoring system with real-time location information is transmitted to the ventilation system, which is intended to more effectively work in the mines. The gallery maps which simultaneous location and mapping information obtained by UAV Extended Kalman Filter algorithms processed were obtained experimentally. © 2016 IEEE.

In this paper, the effects of autapse (a kind of synapse formed between the axon or soma of a neuron and its own dendrites) on the weak signal detection capacity of a Hodgkin-Huxley (H-H) neuron are investigated. In the study, we consider that the H-H neuron has an inhibitory autapse modeled as a chemical synapse. The subthreshold sine wave is injected to the H-H neuron as a weak signal. Obtained results indicate that inhibitory autapse prominently increases the weak signal detection capacity of a H-H neuron when the proper autaptic time delay and autaptic conductance values are choosen. © 2017 IEEE.

In this study, the information coding issue in the nervous system is investigated. By using mathematical equations for modeling the dynamics of the basic units of the system, which are neurons, the information processing performance of the neuron populations is systematically studied. As most of studies in the literature investigate the subject by considering neuron populations as homogenous systems, in this study, the populations are considered as heterogeneous in terms of neuronal excitability. The obtained results demonstrate that considering the heterogeneity of the populations provides significant advantages for the processing . . .of neuronal information. It is shown that the neuron population exhibits maximal performance (resonance) for two different levels of network heterogeneity. Moreover, the influences of other biological parameters, forming the whole system, on this double-resonance phenomenon are investigated. © 2014 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

The spatially limited plane (SLP) wave can be created by exciting the ring transducer elements with different amplitudes and at different times. Although the ring transducer initially worked well, many transducer elements have become inoperative, due probably to service life and material life. The result of these bad elements is artifacts in the resulting spatially limited plane waves. In this study, the effects of bad elements of ring transducer system (RTS) which is used to obtain high quality images by using inverse scattering techniques in formation of the SLP wave are investigated. Also, the weighting of operative elements is e . . .xamined in order to compensate the bad ones. Results show that loses in the generated SLP wave can be compensated with correcting the artifacts of bad elements by using elements adjacent to the inoperative ones. © 2016 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

In this paper, two different methods are suggested in order to provide image enhancement in ultrasonic B-mode imaging. By obtaining RF data from two different phantom used to form B-mode image, their spectral characteristics were observed. Then by forming RF envelope from obtained data, conversion of envelope to color image is provided. Logarithmic compression and histogram equalization methods found in literature are used to improve image quality. From the results obtained, it is observed that both algorithms are effective based on the intended use when they are applied individually. © 2016 IEEE.

Time delay estimation has been used as a research area of significant practical important in many fields such as especially military system like localization, targeting, course acquisition also sonar, seismology, hands-free communications etc. In these applications, it is important to detect the delay and arrival times of ultrasonic echoes comprised in the medium for ultrasonic signals. Here, it is aimed to determine the time delay between the signals arrived from a signal source in order to detect the location. Hence, a system is suggested that uses a multi-surfaced waveguide with only one receiver instead of using receiver arrays. . . . By using this structure, time delay estimation is compared for different signal-to-noise ratios with Cross-Correlation, Maximum Likelihood and Phase Transform methods. © 2014 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

In this paper, the effects of autapse (a kind of synapse formed between the axon or soma of a neuron and its own dendrite) on the transmission of weak signal are investigated in scale-free neuronal networks. In the study, we consider that each neuron in the network has an autapse modelled as chemical synapse. Besides, a subthreshold signal are injected to all neurons in the network. When obtained results are analyzed, it is seen that the autaptic conductance has a threshold value. According to this threshold, the effects of autapse on the transmission of weak signal are evaluated within two categories. When conductance of autapse is . . . less than this threshold value, autapses with proper autaptic time delay values slightly increase the transmission of weak signal. When autaptic conductance is bigger than the threshold value, autapses with proper autaptic time deley values prominently block the transmission of weak signal Daha fazlası Daha az

We investigate how firing dynamics of neuron changes with the autpse's coupling strength for different ratio of the blockage of potassium and sodium ion channels embedded in membranes affects, with using a biophysically more realistic Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model. In the study, we assume that neuron has an excitatory chemical autapse. It is found that the neuron dynamics does not change for too small coupling strength whether it increases after a certain coupling strength' value in case of different ion channel blockage case. Besides, it is determined that potassium ion channel blockage has a healing effect whereas sodium ion channel . . . blockage has a destructive effect on the neuron dynamics increasing with the autaptic coupling strength. © 2017 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

In this paper, the equal frequency discretization (EFD) based probability density approach was proposed to be used in the diagnosis of epilepsy from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. For this aim, EEG signals were decomposed by using the discrete wavelet discretization (DWT) method into subbands, the coefficients in each subband were discretized to several intervals by EFD method, and the probability density of each subband of each EEG segment was computed according to the number of coefficients in discrete intervals. Then, two probability density functions were defined by means of the curve fitting over the probability densities . . .of the sets of both healthy subjects and epilepsy patients. EEG signals were classified by applying the mean square error (MSE) criterion to these functions. The result of the classification was evaluated by using the ROC analysis, which indicated 82.50% success in the diagnosis of epilepsy. As a result, the EFD based probability density approach may be considered as an alternative way to diagnose epilepsy disease on EEG signals. © 2011 IEEE Daha fazlası Daha az

In this paper; the effects of autapse (a kind of self-synapse formed between the axon of the soma of a neuron and its own dendrites) and ion channel blockage on the firing regularity of a biological small-world neuronal network, consists of stochastic Hodgkin-Huxley neurons, are studied. In this study, it is assumed that all of the neurons on the network have a chemical autapse and a constant membrane area. Obtained results indicate that there are different effects of channel blockage and parameters of the autapse on the regularity of the network, thus on the temporal coherence of the network. It is found that the firing regularity . . .of the network is decreased with the sodium channel blockage while increased with potassium channel blockage. Besides, it is determined that regularity of the network augments with the conductance of the autapse Daha fazlası Daha az
