Article | 2018 | PSYCHIATRY AND CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY28 ( 4 ) , pp.363 - 370

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to examine the efficacy of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) combined with antipsychotic (AP) medication on symptom profile in patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia who had received acute psychiatric inpatient treatment. METHODS: In this prospective study, patients were evaluated for inclusion in the study who were diagnosed with schizophrenia according to DSM-IV diagnostic criteria and were to receive ECT. The patients were evaluated using the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), Scale for the Assessment of Positive Symptoms (SAPS), Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS), and C . . .linical Global Impression - Improvement (CGI-I) sub-scale before the first session ECT, once following every two subsequent sessions and after the final session. RESULTS: The patients showed significant improvements in BPRS scores at each evaluation compared with their scores at baseline, and a significant clinical improvement was found on the CGI-I sub-scale at the end of treatment. Across all SAPS sub-scores, significant decreases were found, and the symptoms related to hallucinations and positive formal thought disorder showed the most rapid response to treatment. Across all SANS sub-scores, significant decreases were found, and affective flattening or blunting symptoms responded most rapidly to treatment. CONCLUSION: One of the most important findings in the present study of hospitalized patients with acute schizophrenia was the good response to treatment, which provided significant improvements in both positive and negative symptoms. The most rapid response to treatment was found for hallucinations, positive formal thought disorder, and affective flattening or blunting symptoms. The most important limitation of our study may be the small number of cases. In future, well-standardized studies using a double-blinded, comparative, prospective design and including a sufficient number of patients are needed Daha fazlası Daha az

ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT-VOLTAGE CHARACTERISTICS AND TRANSPORT CRITICAL-CURRENT DENSITY OF SUPERCONDUCTING YBA2CU3O7-DELTA IN THE SELF-FIELD APPROXIMATION

KILIC, A

Article | 1995 | SUPERCONDUCTOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY8 ( 7 ) , pp.497 - 503

The temperature and sample size (width, thickness, and cross-sectional area) dependences of the zero-field current-voltage characteristics and transport critical current density J(c) of YBa2Cu3O7-delta have been studied by using the motion of the flux lines which depends on the pinning force F-p and the Lorentz forces F-L. We have obtained analytical expressions for the sample size and temperature dependences of the critical current density and current-voltage characteristics, which are in reasonable agreement with most of the experimental data published previously. It has been shown that the viscous drag coefficient eta Of the medi . . .um changes with temperature as eta = eta(0)[1 - (T/T-c)(2)]. We have also found that the pinning force F-p is proportional to [B(T)](3/2) which implies that the diameter of the spherical pinning centres is larger than the coherence length as in the case of conventional hard superconductors Daha fazlası Daha az

Design and testing of wall cabinet frames constructed with round mortise-and-tenon joints

Tankut, Ali N. | Tankut, Nurgul | Eckelman, Carl A.

Article | 2007 | FOREST PRODUCTS JOURNAL57 ( 3 ) , pp.18 - 22

This study investigated the design, construction, testing, and performance characteristics of wall cabinets constructed with round mortise-and-tenon joints that are suitable for use in classrooms, school libraries, and homes. Four wall cabinets, utilizing round mortise-and-tenon joints, were constructed to evaluate their performance. Tests indicated that the attachment of thin plywood panels to the frames increased overall cabinet stiffness by 62 and 70 percent for red oak and yellow-poplar wall cabinets, respectively. Also, wood species was found to affect creep deflection. Overall, this study clearly demonstrated that wall cabinet . . .s constructed with round mortise-and-tenon joints were able to withstand normal service loads without loss of structural integrity or function Daha fazlası Daha az

CP-violating WW gamma couplings in e gamma collision with polarized beams

Sahin, Banu

Article | 2009 | PHYSICA SCRIPTA79 ( 6 ) , pp.18 - 22

We investigate the constraints on CP-violating triple WW gamma gauge boson couplings through the process e gamma -> W nu(e). Considering the longitudinal and transverse polarization states of the final W and incoming polarized beams, we find 95% confidence level limits on CP odd anomalous coupling parameters (lambda) over tilde and (kappa) over tilde with an integrated luminosity of 500 fb(-1) and root s = 0.5, 1 and 1.5 TeV energies. It is shown that the initial and final state polarizations improve the sensitivity limits of (lambda) over tilde by a factor of 1.3-1.6 and of (kappa) over tilde by a factor of 5.2-9.

CALCIUM OXALATE CRYSTALS IN LEAVES OF QUERCUS CERRIS L. AND Q-ILEX L.

Kaplan, Hatice Coelgecen Ayse | Buyukkartal, H. Nurhan

Article | 2009 | BANGLADESH JOURNAL OF BOTANY38 ( 1 ) , pp.103 - 105

Leaves of Quercus cerris L. were collected from Zonguldak, Devrek and those of Q. ilex L. samples were collected from Zonguldak, Eregli, Turkey. The leaf sections were subjected to histochemical analysis and brown-black stained calcium oxalate crystals were identified. The organic contents in the leaves were completely cleaned for polarizing microscope investigation. Calcium oxalate crystals were found to be druz and prismatic in Q. cerris and Q. ilex species. While druz crystals were localized in mesophyll, prismatic ones were localized around the leaf vessels. The amount of calcium oxalate crystals per mm(2) was determined in perm . . .anent preparations Daha fazlası Daha az

How about a risky play? Investigation of risk levels desired by children and perceived mother monitoring*

Yurt, Ozlem | Keles, Sadiye

Article | | EARLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND CARE , pp.100 - 111

The aim of this study was to investigate the risk levels desired by children aged 4-5 years and their perceived status of mother monitoring. One hundred and three children aged 4-5 years were participated in the study. For the purpose of collecting data, a set of 12 drawings based on the interview method set out by the researchers and the questions about these drawings were used. As a result, it was found that children preferred high risk level in high-speed play and preferred low risk level in playing next to dangerous elements. An association between the risk level desired by children and the child's self-disclosure for great heig . . .hts and for high-speed categories were observed and, an association between the risk level desired by the child and perceived mother control for the high-speed category was observed Daha fazlası Daha az

A study on the characteristics of electrical discharge textured skin pass mill work roll

Elkoca, Oktay

Article | 2008 | SURFACE & COATINGS TECHNOLOGY202 ( 12 ) , pp.2765 - 2774

Electrical discharge texturing induces a recast white layer on the skin pass mill work roll surface, which forms the surface topography required for outer autobody steel strips and a heat-affected zone beneath it. The characteristics of these thermally influenced layers were studied by means of optical and scanning electron microscopes, X-ray diffractometer, radio frequency-glow discharge optical emission spectrometer and microhardness tester. It was found that the electrical discharge texturing led to a dramatic hardness drop in the white layer, which was attributed to the high amount of retained austenite. Moreover, softening was . . .observed in over tempered section within heat-affected zone. Sub-zero and cryogenic treatments seem to be potential methods in order to restore the hardness of white layer and over tempered zone with an increase in both. Additionally, de-ionised water was found to be a promising dielectric liquid to abstain from retained austenite. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved Daha fazlası Daha az

Exploring the complexity of teaching: the interaction between teacher self-regulation and pedagogical content knowledge

Uzuntiryaki-Kondakci, Esen | Demirdogen, Betul | Akin, Fatma Nur | Tarkin, Aysegul | Aydin-Gunbatar, Sevgi

Article | 2017 | CHEMISTRY EDUCATION RESEARCH AND PRACTICE18 ( 1 ) , pp.250 - 270

This study combined two important frameworks-teacher self-regulation and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK)-to reveal whether they were related to each other. To fulfill this aim, researchers utilized a case-study design. Data were collected from five preservice chemistry teachers through semi-structured interviews, lesson plans in the form of content representations, and video recordings of teaching practice. Both deductive and inductive analyses were used to analyze the data. Results indicated that preservice teachers utilized different PCK components in each self-regulation phase. They were good at regulating their teaching when . . . they had developed PCK components. Especially, a lack of subject matter knowledge accounted for ineffective self-regulation in teaching. The findings of this study imply that teacher education programs should provide meaningful opportunities to preservice teachers for improving both their self-regulation for teaching and PCK Daha fazlası Daha az
