Büyükkartal H.N. | çölgeçen H. | Akgül G.

Article | 2016 | Australian Journal of Crop Science10 ( 11 ) , pp.1516 - 1522

Marrubium genus is represented by 19 taxa in Flora of Turkey (19 species, 3 subspecies). 11 out of 22 taxa are endemic for Turkey and rate of endemism is 52%. Anatomical, histological and cytological features of the leaf, stem and root in Marrubium bourgaei and M. heterodon taxa of genus Marrubium L. from Lamiaceae family were studied and taxonomic significances were identified. The leaves were amphistomatic and hypostomatic. Stomata were amaryllis type and anomocytic as indicated by neighbouring cells. The leaves of the examined Marrubium species were bifacial (dorsiventral) and a high number of prismatic crystals were observed in . . .the leaf mesophyll tissue. The stems were angular and stomata were observed in local areas of epidermis. The underneath of stem epidermis were a few layers of collenchyma cells. In leaf cross sections, protective tissue was comprised of periderm and a nucleus at the center consisting of tracheids Daha fazlası Daha az

Have maternal mortalities been decreased since last decade with improving maternity care? [Son on yılda antenatal bakım arttırılarak anne ölümleri düşürüldü mü?]

Işık H. | Aynıoğlu Ö. | Şahbaz A. | Aynıoglu A.

Article | 2016 | Journal of Clinical and Analytical Medicine7 ( 1 ) , pp.50 - 54

Aim: To investigate maternal mortalities in Zonguldak province between 2005-2013 years. Material and Method: The deaths recorded by “maternal mortality forms” reported to Local Health Authority between 2005-2013 years were investigated. Totally 20 cases were investigated for gravida, parity, educational status, the time of death, whether the delay was present or not in the death and the causes of death. Results: The mean age, gravida and parities of 20 cases were 30,6±5,9 ages, 2,75± 1,8 and 1,65± 1,2 respectively. Of the maternal mortalities 9 were due to indirect, 7 were due to direct and 4 were due to coincidental causes. 23.7% o . . .f deaths were occured in the antepartum and 76,3% in the postpartum period. 7(53%) of 13 postpartum deaths were in the first week and the rest 6(47%) were within the first month. Discussion: There has been serious decrease in the maternal mortality rates in our country after the health transformation politics since 2005. The maternal mortality rates in our study were parallel to Turkish statistics. We hope that we can decrease the mortality rates to minimal levels by holding on the systematic studies on the causes of maternal mortalities and increasing the antepartum and postpartum care. © 2016, Journal of Clinical and Analytical Medicine. Erkişi A. | Yildiz B. | Demir K. | Surucu G.

Article | 2019 | Materials Research Express6 ( 7 ) , pp.50 - 54

In this resear, we have investigated electronic and magnetic behavior and also some mechanical properties of ternary zinc-based chalcogenides Zn3VCh4 (Ch =S and Te) conform to space group with 215 space number, which have simple cubic (SC) crystal structure, by spin-polarized Generalized Gradient Approximation (GGA) within Density Functional Theory (DFT). To make extensive study within ab initio methods, after the optimization process to get optimal structural parameters in most suitable magnetic phase, the electronic band structures with the total density of electronic states and second order elastic constants to predict some therm . . .al and elastic features have been calculated. The calculated negative formation enthalpy values indicate that, our materials are thermodynamically stable and structurally synthesizable. The observed minority (down) band gaps in the calculated electronic band structures, Eg =2.62 eV for Zn3VS4 and Eg =1.75 eV for Zn3VTe4, show that our crystal systems have half-metallic character. Also, the calculated elastic constants prove that our compounds are mechanically stable due to satisfy the Born-Huang criteria. Moreover, the anisotropic elastic properties have been visualized in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) surfaces for Young's modulus, linear compressibility, shear modulus and Poisson's ratio as well as with the calculation of the anisotropic factors. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd Daha fazlası Daha az

Dynamic modeling and parameter estimation for traction, rolling, and lateral wheel forces to enhance mobile robot trajectory tracking

Bayar G. | Koku A.B. | Konukseven E.I.

Article | 2015 | Robotica33 ( 10 ) , pp.2204 - 2220

Studying wheel and ground interaction during motion has the potential to increase the performance of localization, navigation, and trajectory tracking control of a mobile robot. In this paper, a differential mobile robot is modeled in a way that (traction, rolling, and lateral) wheel forces are included in the overall system dynamics. Lateral wheel forces are included in the mathematical model together with traction and rolling forces. A least square parameter estimation process is proposed to estimate the parameters of the wheel forces. In order to implement the proposed methodologies, an experimental setup is used. The setup conta . . .ins a differentially driven mobile robot, a specially constructed test surface, and a camera system attached at the top of surface for obtaining ground truth. Models having one or more wheel forces are simulated to find the most realistic model. Simulation results are verified by experiments. © 2014 Cambridge University Press Daha fazlası Daha az

The composition effect for the thermal properties of PdnAg(42-n)Pt13 ternary nanoalloys: a molecular dynamics study

Garip A.K.

Article | 2019 | Molecular Simulation45 ( 13 ) , pp.1004 - 1013

In this study, the classical molecular dynamics simulations in canonical ensemble conditions (NVT) were used to investigate the dynamical properties of trimetallic Pd–Pt–Ag nanoalloy clusters with the interatomic interactions modelled by the Gupta many-body potential. The optimisations for best homotops were performed using the basin-hopping algorithm for 55 atom icosahedral PdnAg(42-n)Pt13 trimetallic clusters. We performed optimisations to search the best chemical ordering of icosahedron structure not allowing any geometric changes. The icosahedron structures which are the best homotops have a core-shell segregation. The obtained . . .icosahedral structures with best homotops were taken as the initial configurations for MD simulations. The temperature ranges were explored which the surface sites of the clusters stay thermally stable. We estimated the melting temperatures of PdnAg(42-n)Pt13 trimetallic clusters using caloric curves and Lindemann parameters. No simple correlation between alloy composition and melting temperatures was determined. The Pd35Ag7Pt13 composition has the highest melting temperature, however, the Pd21Ag21Pt13 is the most stable composition according to the relative stability investigation. The simulation results showed that the melting of all PdnAg(42-n)Pt13 clusters takes place as a whole without any surface premelting. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group Daha fazlası Daha az

Karasin M. | Tokgoz O. | Serifoglu İ. | Oz İ. | Erdem O.

Article | 2014 | Polish Journal of Radiology79 ( 1 ) , pp.299 - 304

Background: The hemodynamic changes in hepatic vascular structures of hepatosteatosis patients were examined using Doppler ultrasonography. Material/Methods: Ninety hepatosteatosis patients, classified as mild, moderate or severe, and 30 healthy volunteers were included in this 120-person study. The height, weight, liver size, blood lipids and blood liver function tests of the subjects were measured. Those values were compared in the patient and control groups. In the patient and control groups, color duplex Doppler ultrasonography was used to examine portal vein peak velocity, portal vein flow volume, hepatic artery resistive index . . . (RI), hepatic artery pulsatility index (PI) and hepatic artery flow volume. Results: Similarly to the degree of hepatosteatosis, increases in body mass index, liver size, liver enzyme levels and blood lipid levels were statistically significant (p0.05). As the degree of hepatosteatosis increased, there was a reduction in hepatic artery flow volume, portal vein flow volume and total flow volume that was not statistically significant. In the mild hepatosteatosis group, hepatic artery RI and PI values were statistically significantly lower than in the other groups ( Daha fazlası Daha az

Macroeconomic processes and regional economies management: Analysis of the reasons that determine Turkish nurses' preference of working abroad by probit model

Korkmaz O. | Çevik N.K.

Article | 2013 | Problems and Perspectives in Management11 ( 3 ) , pp.8 - 16

This study aims to investigate the factors that determine the preferences of nurses working abroad. The survey results of 275 nurses taken into consideration and applied to two different hospitals were analyzed by SPSS and Stata software packages. It was detected that the variable having the highest positive effect is age variable. The older they are the less they prefer to work abroad. The factors which motivate nurses to prefer a job abroad include being a university graduate, being a male, having at least one child, having a monthly income higher than 2000 Turkish Lira (USD/TRY 1.7810), longer weekly working hours in Turkey. On t . . .he other hand, being less-experienced negatively affects the preference of working abroad. The less experienced they are the less they prefer to work abroad. This study is limited to one country under investigation; therefore, further research needs to be extended to other countries. The results of the research can be used to stop nurse migration and to prevent human resources and economic losses caused by nurse migration. For this research to draw attention to the issue of foreign nurses, which is a recently popular method, and due to the reason for studies regarding the determination of what are the preferences for them to work abroad to be few in the literature, it is considered to be important to fill this gap. © Oya Korkmaz, Nüket Kirci Çevik, 2013 Daha fazlası Daha az

Tomaç S. | Turgut S.

Article | 2006 | Annals of Ophthalmology38 ( 2 ) , pp.131 - 133

We report a case with orbital cellulitis and irreversible visual loss caused by asymptomatic acute sinusitis in a patient without symptoms or history of sinusitis. The prompt use of intravenous antibiotics in combination with early surgical drainage may prevent irreversible visual loss in the affected eye, and threatened visual loss in the fellow eye can be reduced. © Copyright 2006 by ASCO All rights of any nature whatsoever reserved.

Mapping with OrbView-3 images: Information content of high-resolution satellite images

Topan H. | Büyüksalik G. | Jacobsen K.

Article | 2006 | GIM International20 ( 12 ) , pp.14 - 17

The information content of OrbView-3 and Ikonos imagery is compared, using the Zonguldak area in Turkey as test area. Although OrbView-3 images are qualitatively slightly inferior to Ikonos panchromatic scenes, they can be used for the generation of topographic maps at scale 1:10,000. However, they are not suited for 1:5,000 mapping for which scale Ikonos images also show limitations.

Cakmak F. | Turk T. | Sumer M.

Article | 2014 | European Journal of Orthodontics36 ( 3 ) , pp.321 - 330

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of premaxillary advancement with distraction osteogenesis (DO) on the skeletal, dental, and soft tissues. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 21 cases with Angle class I molar relationship and negative overjet or edge-to-edge incisor relationship were included. Due to patient relocation during fixed orthodontic treatment the results of 19 patients (9 females, 10 males) were reported. Their average chronological age was 16.18 ± 3.10 years. An individual tooth-borne distraction appliance was used. Skeletal, dental, and soft tissue changes were evaluated on cephalograms obtain . . .ed before treatment (T1), at the end of the consolidation period (T2) and fixed orthodontic treatment (T3). Friedman and Wilcoxon tests were applied to determine the significant differences during T1-T2, T2-T3, and T1-T3 periods. RESULTS: At T2 forward movements of ANS, A, and upper incisors were significant. Significant increases of SNA, ANB, and overjet were obtained. The soft tissue points of Pn, Sn, Ss, Ls showed significant anterior movement. Arch length increase of 10.76 mm was significant. At T3 the decreases of SNA and ANB angles, and FH ? N-A distance were significant. Pn point showed significant anterior movement. Total treatment time showed significant anterior movement of points ANS, A, and upper incisors. Significant increase of SNA and ANB angles was noted. The soft tissue points followed the movement of the underlying hard tissue. LIMITATION: A class III control group could not be established for ethical reasons. CONCLUSIONS: The facial profile was improved and space was obtained to solve the maxillary anterior crowding with premaxillary advancement through DO. © The Author 2013.
