A series of novel N-and N,N'-bis(quinonyl)amines were synthesized from the reactions of 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone (1) and polyoxypropylenediamines. The novel quinone-amine polymers were treated with some thiols in next step and N,S-substituted compounds were obtained. The structures of the novel products were characterized by micro-analysis, 1H NMR, UV-VIS, 13C NMR, and MS. The electrochemical properties of some of the novel amine-quinone polymers derivatives were also investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The number of molecular weight (Mn) of polymer compounds was also determined by Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). © 2016 . . .Taylor & Francis Group, LLC Daha fazlası Daha az

Comprehensive and quantitative profiling of lipid molecular species by LC-ESI-MS/MS of four native species from semiarid Patagonian Monte

Cenzano, Ana M. | Arslan, İdris

Article | 2020 | Plant Physiology and Biochemistry146 , pp.447 - 456

The maintenance of lipid and fatty acids unsaturated composition has been described as one of the mechanisms associated to drought tolerance, but research about the lipid profile in native plants of semiarid environment is still limited. The primary objective was to study whether lipid profiles correlates with drought resistance strategies (tolerant or avoidant) of two life forms (shrubs and grasses). The lipid classes and molecular species of green leaves of Larrea divaricata and Lycium chilense shrubs and Pappostipa speciosa and Poa ligularis grasses were determined using LC–ESI-MS/MS. The soil water content was very low during sp . . .ring and leaf relative water content was between 47 and 74% in the four species. Lipid profiling was different between both life forms. The prevalent compounds were digalactosyldiacylglycerol (DGDG), monogalactosyldiacylglycerol (MGDG) and phosphatidic acid (PA). The lipid signature shows that L. divaricata adjust its lipid composition to tolerate drought, increasing the content of: a) total lipids and total phospholipids, b) structural phospholipids (36:4 and 36:2-PC, phosphatidylcholine; 36:4-PE, phosphatidylethanolamine), c) chloroplast and mitochondria lipids (32:1 and 32:0-PG, phosphatidylglycerol; 34:3, 36:6 and 36:3-DGDG), d) signaling lipids (34:3, 34:2 and 36:5-PA and PI, phosphatidylinositol), and e) polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs, 18:3 and 18:2) and long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFAs, in 40:2 and 42:2-PS, phosphatidylserine). This membrane lipid composition contributes to membrane stabilization as metabolic-functional strategy for drought tolerance in the Patagonian Monte. In addition, the 18:3 present in lipids of both grasses could be incorporated to lamb fed based on pastures and result healthy for human dietary. © 201 Daha fazlası Daha az

Aim. Cardiac dyssynchrony is a well known entity in patients with wide QRS complex (>120 ms). Dyssynchrony may also cause ventricular dysfunction in heart failure patients with narrow QRS complexes. In the study, the presence and extent of cardiac dyssynchrony were investigated in patients with heart failure both with narrow and wide QRS complexes using tissue Doppler echocardiography (TDE). Methods. Forty-nine patients with heart failure, were included to the study. The first group of 30 patients with a QRS duration of 120 ms (12M; mean age, 65±11.6 years). In order to examine cardiac synchronization, TDE was performed. Systolic an . . .d diastolic intraventricular dyssynchrony and interventricular dyssynchrony were calculated. In order to define systolic and diastolic dyssynchrony, intraventricular delay was accepted as >60 ms, and interventricular delay was accepted as >40 ms. Results. Left ventricular systolic dyssynchrony was detected in 18 patients (60%) within the narrow QRS group and in 18 patients (94%) within the wide QRS group. Interventricular dyssynchrony was detected in 17 patients (56%) within the narrow QRS group and in 18 patients (94%) within the wide QRS group. For systolic dyssynchrony, correlations existed between intraventricular delay and QRS duration (r=0.48), left ventricular end diastolic diameter (r=0.62), left ventricular end systolic diameter (r=0.61), and EF (r=-0.63). Similarly, correlations existed between interventricular delay and QRS duration (r=0.58), left ventricular end diastolic diameter (r=0.65), left ventricle end systolic diameter (r=0.64), and EF (r=-0.64). Conclusion. The present study suggested that systolic or diastolic dyssynchrony exists despite normal levels of QRS duration Daha fazlası Daha az

Discrimination of 2n=60 Spalax leucodon cytotypes (Spalacidae, Rodentia) in Turkey by means of classical and molecular cytogenetic techniques

Ivanitskaya, E. | Sözen, Mustafa | Rashkovetsky, L. | Matur, Ferhat | Nevo, E.

Article | 2008 | CYTOGENETIC AND GENOME RESEARCH122 ( 2 ) , pp.139 - 149

Comparative studies among seven populations of 2n = 60 S. leucodon employing classic cytogenetics (G-bands, C-bands, AgNOR-staining), fluorochrome staining, and fluorescence in situ hybridization of telomeric and rDNA probes are reported here for the first time. The studied specimens were assigned to two cytotypes: 2n = 60W and 2n = 60R. The basic karyotype of both cytotypes consisted of eight pairs of subtelocentric and 21 pairs of acrocentric autosomes, subtelocentric X and acrocentric Y chromosomes. Both cytotypes had variable numbers of B-chromosomes (1-3) and variable numbers of autosomal arms (NFa = 74-76) caused by amplificat . . .ion (deletion) of heterochromatin short arms in the second pair. The short arms of subtelocentric chromosomes were comprised of heterochromatin in both cytotypes. Nucleolar organizer regions (NORs) and rDNA clusters were detected at telomeric sites of the short arms in pairs Nos. 3, 5, 6, 9, and 13 in cytotype W, and in the short arms of pair No. 6, 8, 12, 13, and 16 in cytotype R. Different locations of rDNA clusters allowed unambiguous discrimination between two S. leucodon cytotypes possessing the same 2n = 60 and similar NFa (74-76) variability. Our findings suggest a high level of chromosomal divergence, which means that it is possible to consider these cytotypes as a well-differentiated, chromosomal lineage within the leucodon group. Article | 2013 | Herz38 ( 3 ) , pp.317 - 320

Superior vena cava anomalies are rare malformations that are typically seen with other congenital cardiac defects. Although a persistent left superior vena cava is the most common anomaly of the systemic venous return in the thorax, its combination with an upper sinus venosus defect and absence of the innominate vein is extremely rare. Here, we report a patient diagnosed with these anomalies based on a bubble study and confirmed with magnetic resonance imaging.

Synthesis of some novel blends of polylactide with polylactide-b-poly (ethylene glycol) block copolymers

Taşkın, Elif | Hazer, Baki | Beşirli, Necati | Çavuş, Gökhan

Article | 2012 | Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A: Pure and Applied Chemistry49 ( 2 ) , pp.164 - 170

The synthesis of polylactide (PLA)-b-polyethylene glycol (PEG) linear block copolymers and their use in blends with pure-PLA is described. PLA-b-PEG linear block copolymers were obtained by the reaction between poly(ethylene glycol) bis (2-aminopropyl ether) (molecular weight 2000 Dalton) with PLA in the presence of stannous octoate via trans esterification. Molecular weight measurements of the block copolymers indicated that AB and ABA type block copolymers were obtained by controlling the feed ratio in the trans esterification reactions. The copolymers obtained were purified by the fractional precipitation and then characterized b . . .y 1H-NMR, FTIR, GPC and DSC techniques. Blends of pure PLA with PLA-b-PEG displayed improved mechanical properties compared to pure PLA. Thermal, mechanical and morphological characterization of the blends were also conducted. © 2012 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC Daha fazlası Daha az

Sintering behavior and mechanical properties of biphasic calcium phosphate ceramics

Yetmez, Mehmet

Article | 2014 | Advances in Materials Science and Engineering2014 , pp.164 - 170

The sintering behavior and the mechanical properties of a mechanical mixture of hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate (BCP) ceramics with the composition of 30% HA and 70% TCP are experimentally investigated in the temperature range between 1000°C and 1300°C. The results show that consolidation, grain growth, and Vickers hardness generally increase with increasing sintering temperature up to 1200°C. However, microstructure observation indicates that cracks are formed along the grain boundaries as well as in the bulk of the grains after sintering at 1200°C. Moreover, the best values of compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, a . . .nd toughness are achieved in the samples sintered at 1100°C. These properties at 1100°C decay with sintering at 1200°C and increase again after sintering at 1300°C. © 2014 Mehmet Yetmez Daha fazlası Daha az

A case of spontaneous multivessel coronary artery dissection presenting with acute myocardial infarction and ventricular tachycardia

Karabag T. | Dogan S.M.

Article | 2012 | Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions79 ( 1 ) , pp.113 - 116

Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare cause of myocardial ischemia. Multivessel SCAD is much rarer than single vessel involvement and acute coronary syndrome remains the most common clinical presentation of a patient with SCAD. It predominantly occurs in association with atherosclerosis or in the absence of atherosclerosis. We, hereby, present a case of spontaneous multivessel coronary artery dissection in a 35-year-old male patient presenting with chest pain and ventricular tachycardia following emotional stress and discuss the etiology and treatment options. © 2011 Wiley-Liss, Inc. Melatonin reverses depressive and anxiety like-behaviours induced by diabetes: involvement of oxidative stress, age, rage and S100B levels in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex of rats

Ergenç, Meryem | Özaçmak-Sayan, Hale | Turan, İnci | Özaçmak, Veysel Haktan

Article | 2019 | Archives of Physiology and Biochemistry , pp.389 - 401

Diabetes is associated with depression and anxiety symptoms. The current investigation was designed to explore the effect of melatonin on depressive and anxiety like-behaviours, oxidative stress, levels of AGE, RAGE and S100B in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The animals were divided into four groups: Normoglycemic; Normoglycemic + melatonin; diabetic; diabetic + melatonin (10 mg/kg, for 4 weeks). The malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), AGE, RAGE and S100B were measured and the depressive and anxiety like-behaviours were assessed by forced swimming and elevated plus maze tests, respectively. Melatonin ameliorate . . .s depressive and anxiety like-behaviours. Concomitantly, melatonin reversed diabetes induced increase of MDA, AGE and decrease of GSH and S100B levels in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. In conclusion, our results showed that melatonin administration may exert antidepressant-like and anxiolytic effects in diabetic rats through normalising of AGE/RAGE, S100B and oxidative stress in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus. © 2019, © 2019 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group Daha fazlası Daha az
