Electrokinetic removal of manganese from river sediment

Manganese was removed from naturally polluted river sediment by applying an electrokinetic remediation technique. The sediment was alkaline and had 20% clay, which was mainly illite. The electrokinetic remediation experiments were performed by controlling pHs in the electrode cells and reverse electroosmotic flows were observed, i.e., water moved from cathode towards anode. The effect of cutting speed and cutting tool geometry on machinability properties of nickel-base Inconel 718 super alloys

The effects of cutting speed and cutting tool geometry on cutting forces are investigated in this study. For this purpose, nickel-base super alloy, Inconel 718, is machined with dry cutting conditions by using digital controlled computer lathe with ceramic cutting tools in two different geometries and three different material qualities. Metal removing process is carried out for four different cutting speeds (150 m/min, 200 m/min, 250 m/min, and 300 m/min), while a cutting depth of 2 mm and a feed rate of 0.20 mm/rev are kept constant. Image enhancement in ultrasound imaging

In this paper, two different methods are suggested in order to provide image enhancement in ultrasonic B-mode imaging. By obtaining RF data from two different phantom used to form B-mode image, their spectral characteristics were observed. Then by forming RF envelope from obtained data, conversion of envelope to color image is provided. Logarithmic compression and histogram equalization methods found in literature are used to improve image quality. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of tadalafil (TDF) and pentoxifylline (PTX) on hepatic apoptosis and the expressions of endothelial and inducible nitric oxide synthases (eNOS and iNOS) after liver ischemia/reperfusion (IR). Forty Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into five groups (n = 8) as follows: sham group; IR group with ischemia/reperfusion alone; low-dose and high-dose TDF groups received 2.5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg TDF, respectively; and PTX group received 40 mg/kg PTX.
