Our open heart surgery experience in factor XII deficiency: a case report

Coskun, Elif | Buyukates, Mustafa

Factor XII deficiency is an important hematological problem which is characterized by isolated prolongation of the activated partial thromboplastin time and presents with thrombosis and thromboembolism tendency rather than expected bleeding diathesis in clinical practice. A 55-year-old male patient who was scheduled for aortic coronary bypass graft surgery had elevated activated partial thromboplastin time (109.4 sec) as a laboratory finding. The patient was diagnosed with factor XII deficiency and operated in our clinic. No thromboembolic event was seen during follow-up. The patient was discharged in the seventh postoperative day u . . .neventfully. Herein, we highlight the importance of this disease due to its rare occurrence and present our treatment strategy applied Daha fazlası Daha az

. . bir ilişki mevcuttur. In this study, the relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth in Turkey is analyzed with linear and nonlinear cointegration techniques. The linear Engle-Granger cointegration and the nonlinear cointegration method developed by Kapetanios, Shin and Shell (KSS 2006), were applied in the period of 1960-2010. According to the results of the econometric analysis, there was no linear relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth in Turkey, but a nonlinear cointegration relationship was determined. Accordingly, we can say that there is a nonlinear significant positive relationship between carbon emissions and economic growth for the long term in Turkey Daha fazlası Daha az

Previous reports of plant regeneration of natural tetraploid T. pratense L. 'Elci' could be realized only through the apical meristem calli. In order to proceed to the production stage, other regeneration methods need to be tried. Aseptic seedlings were used for the production of somatic embryos through various 2,4-D and kinetin trials. Nonuniform external callus cells with translucent cytoplasm were observed in various developmental stages of somatic embryos. Beneath these cells, there were uniformly aligned, dark-stained embryo cells with dense cytoplasm. Despite the similar developmental stages and cell characteristics of zygotic . . . and somatic embryos, the walls of somatic embryo cells revealed a highly wavy pattern. The nucleus generally contained only one nucleolus, which was spherical, dark stained, and electron-dense. Electron-dense droplets were seen in vacuoles. The cytoplasm consisted of starch-containing amyloplasts, mitochondria, plastids, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, dictyosomes, lipid, and protein bodies. In some of the somatic embryos at the globular and heart stages, vacuole or electron-translucent zones were observed in the nucleolus. Additionally, a few embryo degenerations were recorded during developmental stages of the zygotic embryo. For the first time, the somatic embryos of natural tetraploid T. pratense were produced from hypocotyl (85%), cotyledon (75%), and apical meristem (60%) explants in 0.3 mg/L 2,4-D and 2 mg/L kinetin-containing MS medium. Our study developed an effective and efficient in vitro production method for using natural tetraploid T. pratense in biotechnological studies Daha fazlası Daha az

Article | 2016 | Egitim ve Bilim41 ( 187 ) , pp.137 - 164

Writing is the basis of success at school and is one of the important means of learning and assessment in various courses. Writing is one of the most important skills that students need to acquire and improve. In recent years, it seems that in the teaching of writing, the product-based work has been replaced with the process-based one. The latter requires tracking, assessment, and correction in the process of writing; in other words, it requires running with metacognitive skills. In this study used the simultaneous mixed method. Quasi-experimental method used in the quantitative part. Qualitative research method used in order to val . . .idate and expand the quantitative data with the qualitative ones, to support the obtained data and examine them profoundly with multi-perspective. The aim of this study was to discover to what extent the writing approach based on metacognitive skills would improve fourth grade students' skills in writing narrative texts, and to observe the changes occurring in their products and writing performances during the study. The study sample included 64 students in a public school in Eregli, Zonguldak (Turkey). The study used a mixed research method consisting of qualitative and quantitative methods to collect, analyze, and interpret the study data. In the implementation process, the experimental group performed their writing activities based on a process that focuses on metacognitive skills, and the control group performed their writing activities according to the Turkish curriculum. The study was conducted over eight weeks (28 hours) in the experimental group. The study analyzed students' skills in writing narrative texts and the use of metacognitive writing processes in the process of writing narrative text, and it was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the groups to the advantage of the experimental group. It is observed that certain progress for each student in the experimental group in terms of the targeted metacognitive skills, but the control group students were not able to use such metacognitive skills adequately as tracking of the past writing, correcting when needed, or reorganizing. The results of this research are deemed to contribute to the limited literature on process-based writing skills and to help the primary school teachers enrich their teaching methods concerning the writing skill. Furthermore; the research is expected to be among the first examples in the area that emphasize the upper cognitive skills to lead further researches Daha fazlası Daha az

The impact of the extent and severity of coronary artery disease on fractional flow reserve measurements

Sahan, E. | Sahan, S. | Karamanlioglu, M. | Gul, M. | Kalayci, S. | Boyaci, A. | Dereagzi, F.

OBJECTIVE: Coronary angiography has a limitation to determine the severity of intermediate stenosis (30-70%)(1,2). Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a method for the assessment of the intermediate stenosis severity(3). The effect of coronary artery disease (CAD) severity on the FFR results is not clear. In this study, we aimed to expose the effect of CAD severity calculated with Syntax and Gensini scores on FFR results. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We scanned patients data (n= 378) who had undergone fractional flow reserve measurements in our center. Patients with acute coronary syndrome in the last month, moderate or severe valvular diseas . . .es, acute heart failure, serious bradycardia, atrial fibrillation/flutter, severe left ventricular hypertrophy or patient with deficient data were excluded. 351 patients were included in the study. Syntax and Gensini scores were calculated and compared with FFR results. Hemodynamically significant result for FFR, ratio 22 had notable more crucial lesions in FFR measurements ( Daha fazlası Daha az

Ottoman Empire's decantralization process started in 17. century and peaked in 18. century. In this study, it is examined that how ayan who is owner of capital accumulation, use their capital in this period. For this reason, it was elaborated that through which cornerstones have caused creation of institution of ayan and how it is fit that the term of entrepreneur (capitalist) in economic literature for this class. On the other hand it was reached that necessary basic conditions (market and the profit/loss motive) did not occur for the development of an entrepreneurial class. However, ayans are not the only concern as a typical entr . . .epreneur to profit, at the same time they act like power forces who want to increase their political power Daha fazlası Daha az
