Trns-Diaquabis(6-hydroxypicolin-ato-?2N,O 2)copper(II)

Şengül A. | Büyükgüngö O.

Article | 2005 | Acta Crystallographica Section C: Crystal Structure Communications61 ( 3 )

In the title compound, [Cu(C6H4NO3) 2(H2O)2], the CuII ion lies on an inversion centre and has an elongated octahedral environment, equatorially trans-coordinated by two N,Obidentate picolinate ligands and axially coordinated by two water O atoms. The complex molecules form layers, which are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the aqua ligands and neighbouring carboxylate groups. An intramolecular hydrogen bond between the coordinated carboxylate O atom and the hydroxy H atom is also observed. © 2005 International Union of Crystallography.

Three-dimensional regions in tunnels

Gercek H.

Conference Object | 2005 | Underground Space Use: Analysis of the Past and Lessons for the Future - Proceedings of the 31st ITA-AITES World Tunnel Congress1 , pp.157 - 162

In the stress and stability analysis of underground openings, cross-sectional plane-strain analyses are common; yet, in tunnels, there are some regions that must be analyzed three dimensionally. The typical examples of such regions are: the excavation face, portals, intersections with other underground openings, and regions with sudden geometrical changes. The paper involves some considerations regarding the stability and analysis of these three-dimensional regions. Significance of these regions and the problems encountered in such regions are discussed. Then, major considerations that should be taken into account during the stress . . .and stability analysis of the three-dimensional regions in tunnels are presented. © 2005 Taylor & Francis Group Daha fazlası Daha az

Improving operational planning and management of national parks in Turkey: A case study

Daşdemir I.

Article | 2005 | Environmental Management35 ( 3 ) , pp.247 - 257

The purpose this study was to improve operational planning and management of national parks in Turkey to balance conservation use and sustainable management. Soguksu National Park (SNP) was chosen as the study area. The data were obtained from interviews of 182 visitor groups (in total, 819 people) and analyzed using correlation, factor, discriminant, and regression analyses. It was found that the most important factors affecting operational planning and management of SNP are (1) travel cost, (2) visitor welfare level, (3) intensity of use, (4) size of visitor group, (5) type of recreational demand. The main source of visitors to SN . . .P is from a zone within a 0-90-km radius. This region comprised 53.85% of total visitors to the park. The capital of Turkey (Ankara) is the most important source of visitors from within this zone. The optimum activity mix in SNP is also determined. Picnicking, viewing the scenery, and nature walks or trekking comprised the main uses of the park. It is anticipated that these findings will help to improve operational planning and sustainable management of the national park and the environment. © 2005 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc Daha fazlası Daha az

Elements of finite order in free centre-by-nilpotent-by-abelian groups

Kesim S.

Article | 2005 | Communications in Algebra33 ( 10 ) , pp.3529 - 3568

Let F be a free group of rank d ? 2. Consider the quotient F/[?4 (F'), F]F?. A peculiar feature of this group is the occurence of torsion in its centre. In this article, we describe an elementary abelian 2-group of rank in F /[?4(F'), F]F? in terms of generators of F. We solve this purely group theoretic problem using homological methods namely computing certain connecting homomorphisms.

Geometric accuracy evaluation of the DEM generated by the Russian TK-350 stereo scenes using the SRTM X- and C-band interferometric DEMs

Buyuksalih G. | Kocak G. | Oruc M.

Article | 2005 | Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing71 ( 11 ) , pp.1295 - 1301

TK-350 stereo-scenes covering 200 km X 300 km on the ground with a base-to-height-ratio of 0.52 have been analysed on Zonguldak testfield in the northwest of Turkey. The pixel size on the ground is 10 m. Control points digitised from 1:25 000 scale topographic maps have been used in the test. The sensor orientation was executed by the PCI Geomatica® V8.2 software package. TK-350 stereo-images can yield 3D geopositioning to an accuracy of about 10 m horizontally and 17 m vertically. Based on this orientation, DEM with 40 m cell size was generated by the related module of PCI system. For the validation of extracted DEM, matched data w . . .as checked against the interferometric DEMs from SRTM X- and C-band SAR data. Based on this comparison, the RMSE of Z values was found to be in the range of 25.6 to 36.9 m and 28.7 to 38.7 m outside and inside the forest area, respectively. However, accuracy results obtained against the SRTM C-band DEM are more representative than those of X-band since the coverage of C-band DEM on the interest area is larger than the X-band. There are some systematic shifts of the TK-350 DEM against the SRTM DEMs which lie between the 3.7 m to 6.2 m which is probably due to the different sensor orientation of TK-350 and SRTM datasets. Height discrepancies are also analysed as a function of terrain slope. It was found that slope depending components were always larger in the case of C-band DEM because of its larger cell spacing. In the forest areas, more dependency upon the slope was observed against the open areas. © 2005 American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Daha fazlası Daha az

Electrochemical synthesis and characterization of polycarbazole

Macit H. | Sen S. | Saçak M.

Article | 2005 | Journal of Applied Polymer Science96 ( 3 ) , pp.894 - 898

Electroinitiated polymerization of carbazole was achieved in acetonitrile by direct electron transfer via constant potential electrolysis based on anodic peak potentials. The anodic peak potential of carbazole was determined by cyclic voltammetry to be + 1.4V. It has been observed that polymer yield increased with some factors, such as time, monomer concentration, and polymerization potential. Conducting polycarbazole material obtained on a platinum anode electrode was characterized by FT-IR, TGA, and con ductance measurements. The conductivities of samples were measured to be about 10 -3-10-4 S/cm by the four-probe method. Temperat . . .ure-dependence of electrical resistance values of polycarbazole between 30°-125°C suggest that it can be used as a thermal sensor. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc Daha fazlası Daha az

Pressureless sintering of Si3N4 ceramics with oxide additives in different packing powder

Demir V. | Thompson D.P.

Article | 2005 | Journal of Materials Science40 ( 7 ) , pp.1763 - 1765

The investigation of pressureless sintering of Si3N4 ceramics with oxide additives in different packing powder was presented. Si 3N4-5% MgO mixtures were densified in different packing powders in the carbon furnace for 30 min under a nitrogen atmosphere, to determine an optimum packing powder and to show the effect of packing powder. The weight losses inevitably occur due to the volatility of MgO, when MgO-containing silicon nitride mixes are pressureless sintered. The maximum density was obtained at sintering temperatures of 1650°C, from the samples that were pressureless sintered with additional silica.

Chemical composition of coniferous wood species occurring in Turkey

Hafizoglu H. | Usta M.

Article | 2005 | Holz als Roh - und Werkstoff63 ( 1 ) , pp.83 - 85

The chemical analysis of coniferous wood species occuring in Turkey was presented. Three trees were chosen from each species of coniferous woods and three discs were taken from each tree, the first from the bottom of the stem, the second from the middle, and the third from the upper part. The samples taken from each disc were divided into sapwoods and heartwoods and chipped into matchstick size splinters. The chemical analysis of Turkish coniferous wood species were found useful to present comparative results with regards to both technical utilization and scientific purposes.
