Effects of ocean tide models on GNSS-estimated ZTD and PWV in Turkey

Gurbuz G. | Jin S. | Mekik C.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations can precisely estimate the total zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) and precipitable water vapour (PWV) for weather prediction and atmospheric research as a continuous and all-weather technique. However, apart from GNSS technique itself, estimations of ZTD and PWV are subject to effects of geophysical models with large uncertainties, particularly imprecise ocean tide models in Turkey. In this paper, GNSS data from Jan. 1st to Dec. 31st of 2014 are processed at 4 co-located GNSS stations (GISM, DIYB, GANM, and ADAN) with radiosonde from Turkis ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of information contents of high resolution space images

Topan H. | Büyüksalih G. | Jacobsen K.

The information contents of high resolution space images, usable for mapping, are not only depending upon the image resolution that means in case of digital data, depending upon the pixel size in the object space. Important is also the contrast, the spectral range, radiometric resolution and colour beside the atmospheric condition and the object contrast. From the area of Zonguldak, Turkey different space images are available like taken by IKONOS, KVR-1000, SPOT 5, IRS-1C, TK350, ASTER, Landsat TM, JERS and SRTM X-band. Of course the information content is mainly depending upon the pixel size ...Daha fazlası

Land cover mapping using sentinel-1 SAR data

Abdikan S. | Sanli F.B. | Ustuner M. | Calò F.

In this paper, the potential of using free-of-charge Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery for land cover mapping in urban areas is investigated. To this aim, we use dual-pol (VV+VH) Interferometric Wide swath mode (IW) data collected on September 16th 2015 along descending orbit over Istanbul megacity, Turkey. Data have been calibrated, terrain corrected, and filtered by a 5×5 kernel using gamma map approach. During terrain correction by using a 25m resolution SRTM DEM, SAR data has been resampled resulting into a pixel spacing of 20m. Support Vector Machines (SVM) method has been ...Daha fazlası

Influence of temporal baseline on the vertical absolute accuracies of TSX HS interferometric DSMS: Case study on Berlin

Sefercik U.G. | Soergel U.

In recent years, interferometric sytnthetic aperture radar (InSAR) is one of the most preferred techniques to generate digital surface models (DSM) which are the three dimensional (3D) digital cartographic representations of earth surface including all terrain and non-terrain formations. Interferometric DSM generation using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is not an easy process and the vertical absolute accuracy of the final product depends on various parameters. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate the influence of temporal baseline between SAR image-pairs on the vertical absolute ac ...Daha fazlası

An application of roll-invariant polarimetric features for crop classification from multi-temporal RADARSAT-2 SAR data

Ustuner M. | Sanli F.B. | Abdikan S. | Esetlili M.T. | Bilgin G.

Crops are dynamically changing and time-critical in the growing season and therefore multitemporal earth observation data are needed for spatio-temporal monitoring of the crops. This study evaluates the impacts of classical roll-invariant polarimetric features such as entropy (H), anisotropy (A), mean alpha angle (?¯) and total scattering power (SPAN) for the crop classification from multitemporal polarimetric SAR data. For this purpose, five different data set were generated as following: (1) H?¯, (2) H?¯Span, (3) H?¯A, (4) H?¯ASpan and (5) coherency [T] matrix. A time-series of four PolSAR d ...Daha fazlası

Recent Sea level changes in the Black Sea from satellite gravity and altimeter mesurements

Avsar N.B. | Jin S. | Kutoglu S.H.

Sea level rise causes devastating effects on coastal habitats. For example, coastal erosion and saltwater intrusion are major threats for the Black Sea coasts. So, determining sea level changes in the Black Sea is important in terms of coastal risk assessment and coastal planning. In this study, present-day sea level change in the Black Sea is estimated from satellite altimetry and gravity measurements. Altimetry data demonstrate that the Black Sea level has risen at an average rate of 2.5 ± 0.5 mm/year from January 1993 to May 2017. During this period, inter-annual variability of the non-seas ...Daha fazlası

Radiometric and geometric characteristics of pleiades images

Jacobsen K. | Topan H. | Cam A. | Özendi M. | Oruc M.

Pleiades images are distributed with 50cm ground sampling distance (GSD) even if the physical resolution for nadir images is just 70cm. By theory this should influence the effective GSD determined by means of point spread function at image edges. Nevertheless by edge enhancement the effective GSD can be improved, but this should cause enlarged image noise. Again image noise can be reduced by image restoration. Finally even optimized image restoration cannot improve the image information from 70cm to 50cm without loss of details, requiring a comparison of Pleiades image details with other very ...Daha fazlası
