Recurrent lupus vulgaris following repeated BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guerin) vaccination

We report a case of lupus vulgaris following BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guerin) vaccination oil the right shoulder. The patient had a history Of lupus vulgaris on his left shoulder that developed following BCG vaccination and was treated successfully eight years ago.

Ceric ion initiation of methyl methacrylate from poly(glycidyl azide)-diol

Polymerization of methyl methacrylate initiated by ceric ammonium nitrate in combination with poly(glycidyl azide)-diol was investigated in aqueous nitric acid. Poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(glycidyl azide) copolymer was obtained. Block copolymer yield was increased using tetrabutyl ammonium hydrogen sulphate as a surfactant. The effect of nitric acid, ceric ions and diol concentration on the block copolymer yield was investigated. Block copolymers were characterized using GPC, 1H-NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA and fractional precipitation methods.

Effects of novobiocin, nalidixic and oxolinic acids, which are potent antibacterial agents, on the survival and development of the hymenopterous endoparasitoid, Pimpla turionellae L. (Ichneumonidae) were investigated alone by rearing the larvae aseptically on chemically defined synthetic diets. Survival of the fifth instar larvae was not significantly affected by diets with different levels of antibiotics tested. Poly(styrene peroxide) and poly(methyl methacrylate peroxide) for grafting on unsaturated bacterial polyesters

A new soluble terephthaloyl oligoperoxide (OTP) was synthesized by the reaction of terephthaloyl. peroxide and 2,5-dimethyl 2,5-dihydroperoxy hexane. Graft copolymerisation of methyl methacrylate onto a bacterial polyester containing unsaturated side chains

Poly(3-hydroxy alkanoate) containing unsaturated side chains was produced by feeding Pseudomonas oleovorans with soybean-oil acid (PHA-soybean). The composition of PHA-soybean were found to be 10 mol-% of unsaturated side chains with the saturated hexanoate, octanoate and decanoate units. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) was thermally grafted on PHA-soybean in the presence of benzoyl peroxide. Fractional precipitation was used to isolate the graft copolymer from related homopolymers. Poly(-3-hydroxy alkanoate) containing unsaturated side chains, PHA-soybean, were produced by feeding Pseudomonas oleovorans with soybean oily acids obtained from soybean oil. Congenital true complete symphalangism of all proximal interphalangeal joints of hands with carpal anomalies: a case report.

Symphalangism is a rare condition which manifests in either PIP or DIP joint congenital fusion. Symphalangism may be with some other skeletal deformities. In our case, all PIP joints of both hands were fused with bilateral hypoplasia of carpal bones and Minaar type III lunatotriquetral coalition congenitally. No motion was detected in PIP joints with absence of cutaneous creases over all PIP joints. The Habitat, external and cranial morphologies, and karyotype of Turkish specimens of Tatera Indica are described for the first time with this study. It was determined that Tatera Indica was located in uncultivated arid and semi-arid habitat in southeastern Turkey. Its external and cranial characteristics are consistent with those detailed in published papers. The karyotype of Tatera indica is composed of 2n=68, NF=84 and NFa=80.

Abrasive wear behaviour of Al-SiC composites produced by pressure infiltration technique

In this study, abrasive wear behaviours of compacts produced by pressure infiltration technique were investigated. Pure aluminum and SiC particles having 13 and 37 µm mean diameters were used in the infiltration process. The volume fraction of the SiC particles was 60% in the compacts. Abrasive wear tests were carried out under the normal load of 28 N, by rubbing the compacts to abrasive Al2O3 grains with diameters in the range of 85-250 µm.
