Purpose of Review This paper focuses on the epidemiologic factors that are effective on the pathology of the endometrial malignancy. Based on previous reviews and recent articles on endometrial cancer, we sought to define risk factors and related diseases to endometrial malignancies. In this study, a silicon doped diamond-like carbon (DLC) nanocomposite film was deposited electrochemically and it was used to fabricate an Ag/Si-DLC/p-Si metal-interlayer-semiconductor (MIS) Schottky diode. Methanol (CH3OH) was used as carbon and tetraethoxysilane (Si(OC2H5)(4)) as Si source, respectively. Morphology of the film was observed by scanning electron microscopy and continuous surface with numerous lumps spread randomly was observed. Structural and chemical composition analyses of the film were carried out by Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Typical D and G bands of DLC films were not observed in the Raman spe . . .ctrum due to abundance of Si-C bonds. Silicon incorporation promoted the film deposition and increased sp(3) bonds in the film. Current-Voltage (I-V) measurement was conducted to obtain parameters of the MIS diode. The diode exhibited a good rectifier behavior with similar to 10(3) rectification ratio. In the forward bias semi-logarithmic I-V plot, two linear regions with different slopes were observed. Such behavior was modelled by two parallel diodes and attributed to different conduction mechanism. The main electrical parameters, such as barrier height, ideality factor and series resistance were calculated by I-V and Cheung-Cheung methods. Ce1-xErxO2 and Ce1-2xErxGdxO2 co-doped ceria electrolyte nanopowder materials were successfully prepared by sol-gel method. Depending on the temperature, the crystal structure changes were analyzed by X-ray diffraction. It was observed that the crystal size of the electrolytes decreased depending on the temperature and the time. X-ray diffraction results confirmed cubic fluorite structure in the samples. The microstructural properties of the samples were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, and thermal stability measurement was performed by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. All major opencast mining activities produce dust. The major operations that produce dust are drilling, blasting, loading, unloading, and transporting. Dust not only deteriorates the environmental air quality in and around the mining site but also creates serious health hazards. Therefore, assessment of dust levels that arise from various opencast mining operations is required to prevent and minimize the health risks. To achieve this objective, an opencast coal mining area was selected to generate site-specific emission data and collect respirable dust measurement samples. The study covered various mining activities in different loc . . .ations including overburden loading, stock yard, coal loading, drilling, and coal handling plant. The dust levels were examined to assess miners' exposure to respirable dust in each of the opencast mining areas from 1994 to 2005. The data obtained from the dust measurement studies were evaluated by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Tukey-Kramer procedure. The composition and amount of hydrophilic and lipophilic extractives in knots and stemwood of eight Turkish and one Pakistani tree species were analysed. Lignans were the main polyphenols in most studied species and pinosylvins in the pines. The two studied juniper species contained no or only little lignans. Most species also contained juvabiones or phenolic diterpenoids. Both polyphenols and lipophilic extractives were more abundant in the knots than in the sternwood.

Introduction We evaluated low magnesium levels and three different scoring systems including the Fournier's Gangrene Severity Index (FGSI), the Uludag Fournier's Gangrene Severity Index (UFGSI), and the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) for predicting mortality in a multicentric, large patient population with FG. Methods The medical records of 99 FG patients who were treated and followed up in different clinics were reviewed. The biochemical, hematological, and bacteriological results from the admission evaluation were recorded. The CCI, FGSI, and UFGSI were evaluated and stratified by survival. Results The results were evaluated for . . . the following patients: the survivors (n = 82) and the nonsurvivors (n = 17). The magnesium level for the survivors and nonsurvivors was 2.09 +/- 0.28 and 1.68 +/- 0.23, respectively (p 0.004). The admission FGSI, UFGSI, and CCI scores were significantly higher in nonsurvivors (p 0.001, p 0.001, p < 0.001, respectively). The receiver operating characteristics analysis revealed that the UFGSI was more powerful than the FGSI. The hypomagnesemia, low hemoglobin and hematocrit, low albumin and HCO3 levels; high alkaline phosphatase; and the high heart and respiratory rates, an FGSI >9, rectal involvement, and a high CCI were associated with a worse prognosis. Conclusion Low magnesium levels might be an important parameter for a worse FG prognosis. Monitoring the serum magnesium levels might have prognostic and therapeutic implications in patients with FG. High CCI, FGSI, and UFGSI scores might be associated with a worse prognosis in patients with FG. The UFGSI might be more powerful scoring system than the FGSI Daha fazlası Daha az

We investigated the relationship between the distribution of the IL-1RN, TNF-beta and IL-4 polymorphism and the clinical features of bladder cancer. A total of 100 patients with bladder carcinoma and 102 healthy control subjects were enrolled in the study. The IL-1RN, IL-4 and TNF-beta gene polymorphisms were identified by PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism-based analysis. Allelic frequencies were compared between patient and the controls. Tumor stage, histopathological grade, tumor size/number and smoking condition were evaluated with IL-1RN, IL-4 and TNF-beta gene polymorphisms. Allele distribution frequencies of IL-1RN . . .and IL-4 gene polymorphisms were significantly different between patients and control groups. However, allele distribution of TNF-beta gene was not statistically significant. There was no difference in allele distribution of the three genes in both groups regarding stage, tumor size, number of tumors and smoking condition. Although allele distribution of IL-4 gene showed significant difference considering histopathological grades in both smoking and total patients group, allele distribution of IL-1RN and TNF-beta was not different. The present research suggests that the IL-1RN and IL-4 gene polymorphisms are potential genetic markers of susceptibility to bladder cancer. Potential of the LHC to explore the phenomenology of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) tower of gravitons in the scenarios of the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali(ADD) model and Randall-Sundrum (RS) model is discussed via the process gamma gamma -> gamma gamma including the Standard Model one loop diagram. The improved constraints on model parameters have been obtained compared to the LEP and Tevatron sensitivity.

In this work, the radionuclide activity concentrations of Ra-226, Th-232 and K-40 in surface soils and radon levels in dwellings of Karabuk, Turkey were determined in order to evaluate the environmental radioactivity. Concentrations of Ra-226, Th-232 and K-40 radionuclides were determined using gamma spectrometry with using HPGe detector. The etch track detectors (CR-39) were used to determine the distribution of radon concentrations. The average activity concentrations for Ra-226, Th-232 and K-40 were found as 21.0, 23.5 and 363.5 Bq kg(-1), respectively. The calculated average annual effective dose equivalent from the outdoor terr . . .estrial gamma radiation from Ra-226, Th-232 and K-40 is 53.5 mu Sv y(-1).
