An effective approach to numerical soliton solutions for the Schrodinger equation via modified cubic B-spline differential quadrature method

Bashan, Ali | Yagmurlu, Nuri Murat | Ucar, Yusuf | Esen, Alaattin

Makale | 2017 | CHAOS SOLITONS & FRACTALS100 , pp.45 - 56

In this study, an effective differential quadrature method (DQM) which is based on modified cubic B-spline (MCB) has been implemented to obtain the numerical solutions for the nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation. After separating the Schrodinger equation into coupled real value differential equations,we have discretized using DQM and then obtained ordinary differential equation systems. For time integration, low storage strong stability-preserving Runge-Kutta method has been used. Numerical solutions of five different test problems have been obtained. The efficiency and accuracy of the method have been measured by calculating error . . . norms L2 and Linfinity and two lowest invariants I1 and I2. Also relative changes of invariants are given. The newly obtained numerical results have been compared with the published numerical results and a comparison has shown that the MCB-DQM is an effective numerical scheme to solve the nonlinear Schrodinger equation. New cockles (Bivalvia: Cardiidae: Lymnocardiinae) from Late Pleistocene Lake Karapinar (Turkey): Discovery of a Pontocaspian refuge?

Buyukmeric, Yesim | Wesselingh, Frank P.

Makale | 2018 | QUATERNARY INTERNATIONAL465 , pp.37 - 45

Three species of lymnocardiine cockles (Bivalvia: Cardiidae) from Late Pleistocene deposits near Karapinar (Konya Basin, Anatolia, South Turkey) are reported. Two of the three species are described as new (Monodacna pseudocolorata and Adacna yaninae). A third species (Hypanis ?plicatum) is represented by two incomplete valves. Radiocarbon ages of circa 35-43 kA were obtained for the fauna. The lack of lymnocardiine cockles in Pleistocene Anatolian inland lake deposits raises the possibility that the new record represents a short lived occurrence. We raise the possibility that the Karapinar Basin cockles may have been introduced from . . . the Black Sea region through avian dispersal, although we cannot rule out their cryptic existence in the region during the Pleistocene. The apparent absence of Monodacna colorata group of cockles in the Black Sea Basin during the last glacial raises the possibility that the Karapinar region may have served as a true refugium rather than just a sink for Pontocaspian biota. H-2, He and Ar sorption on arc-produced cathode deposit consisting of multiwalled carbon nanotubes - graphitic and diamond-like carbon

Kopac, Turkan | Karaaslan, Tayibe

Makale | 2007 | INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF HYDROGEN ENERGY32 ( 16 ) , pp.3990 - 3997

H-2, He and Ar sorption characteristics in a mixture of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), graphite and diamond-like carbon produced as a cathode deposit during the Kratscmer Hoffman arc process were investigated. A dynamic technique was used to determine the adsorption equilibrium parameters in a temperature range of 30-200 degrees C. Adsorption equilibrium constants were evaluated using the moment analysis of the chromatographic peaks. At 30 degrees C, the adsorption equilibrium constant of H-2 on the MWCNT cathode deposit was found to be 8.91 x 10(-4) m(3) kg(-1), whereas it has value of 5.65 x 10(-4) at 200 degrees C. Heats o . . .f adsorption of H-2, He and Ar on the MWCNT cathode deposit were determined as -2.89, -2.94 and -3.01 kJ mol(-1), respectively. The values of heat of adsorption obtained indicated weaker interactions of gases, implying physical adsorption of H-2, He and Ar on the MWCNT cathode deposit used. Investigation of the production of Ga-68 using pre-equilibrium models

Baldik, Ridvan | Dombayci, Ayten

Makale | 2016 | APPLIED RADIATION AND ISOTOPES113 , pp.10 - 17

In this study, some nuclear reactions for the production of Ga-68 radioisotope are investigated using pre-equilibrium nuclear reaction models. For this aim, by the pre-equilibrium reaction mechanisms, the excitation functions and emission spectra of some nuclear reactions for the production of Ga-68 radioisotope are calculated. These calculations are performed in the ALICE/ASH and the TALYS 1.6 codes. The obtained results have been discussed and compared with the available experimental results. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Artun, Ozan

Makale | 2019 | APPLIED RADIATION AND ISOTOPES144 , pp.64 - 79

In the present study, we have widely investigated the production of nuclei used in cancer therapy for both phenomenological and microscopic level density models via TALYS and EMPIRE codes. To estimate the production of the radioisotope, we calculated the cross-section curves of the reaction and the integral yield curves for nine level density models using the cross-sections and the mass-stopping powers acquired from X-PMSP program in the particle beam current of 1 mu A and irradiation time 1 h. To discuss the obtained results on the basis of the cross-sections and the integral yields curves, the results were compared with the experi . . .mental data and the recommended data in the literature Daha fazlası Daha az

The protective effect of nebivolol on ischemia/reperfusion injury in rabbit spinal cord

Ilhan, A | Yilmaz, HR | Armutcu, F | Gurel, A | Akyol, O

Gözden Geçirme | 2004 | PROGRESS IN NEURO-PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY & BIOLOGICAL PSYCHIATRY28 ( 7 ) , pp.1153 - 1160

The aim of this experimental study was to investigate whether nebivolol has protective effects against neuronal damage induced by spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). Twenty-one rabbits were divided into three groups: group I (control, no I/R), group II (only I/R) and group III (I/R+nebivolol). Spinal cord ischemia was induced by clamping the aorta both below the left renal artery and above the aortic bifurcation. Seventy-two hours postoperatively, the motor function of the lower limbs was evaluated in each animal. The animals were sacrificed at 72 h, and histopathological and biochemical analyses were carried out in the lumbar s . . .pinal cords. The motor deficit scores in nebivolol group were different from I/R group at 72 h (3.25 0.70 vs. 1.75 +/- 1.28, p=0.01). I/R produced a significant increase in the superoxide dismutase (SOD), xanthine oxidase (XO), adenosine deaminase (ADA) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) activities in spinal cord tissue when compared with control group. Nebivolol treatment prevented the increase of all those enzymes activities produced by I/R. A significant decrease in spinal cord glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) level was seen in I/R group and nebivolol treatment prevented the decrement in the spinal cord tissue GSH-Px contents. On the other hand, I/R produced a significant increase in the spinal cord tissue malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) contents, this was prevented by nebivolol treatment. In conclusion, this study demonstrates a considerable neuroprotective effect of nebivolol on neurological, biochemical and histopathological status during periods of spinal cord I/R in rabbits.
