This current study presents the relation between Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and students' perceptions towards speaking classes. Two questionnaires were given to the participants in order to see their EQ level and understand their views on Brain-based speaking activities. The results of the questionnaires indicated that students who have high level of EQ are more eager to attend to speaking classes and brain-based activities because they have self-esteem and manage to cooperate with others due to their social skills. On the other hand, the ones with low level of EQ do not have healthy relations with the society or confide in themsel . . .ves, thus being isolated from the classroom atmosphere Daha fazlası Daha az

Business trade is a very complex process and maritime students should acknowledge this complexity and understand various different components of the process and the interactions among them. Considering this complexity, teaching college students about the international trade can be a demanding and expansive process within the traditional learning context. Developments in instructional strategies helped educators to enhance learning environments with games and simulations providing students with enduring and in-depth learning experiences. The learning experiences included realistic trade scenario allowing students to simulate the proc . . .ess and explore possible results of their actions during the game. The conversations used during the game were derived from real business environment helping students to realize how their classroom learning was connected to actual international trade environment during this activity. The purpose of this research was to observe the effects of business simulation game on maritime business students' understanding of international trade process. The study design was a single group experimental and participants were consisted of 59 undergraduate maritime business school students studying in two Turkish universities. The data was collected through a Business Trade Simulation scale designed for this study. The results of the study illustrated that international trade game enhanced participants' knowledge and skills about international trade and students' motivation toward the game as well. The quantitative increase in recent years of research into semiotics, among other methods of reading works of art, is notable. Since semiotics is the act of reading as based on a meta-language that is constructed and grounded in logic, understanding the methods applied by the field requires time and experience. In addition, the application of models that differ in relation to each other under different schools of thought and under different names makes its yet more difficult to comprehend the field of semiotics. Despite the different models that are available, approaches display certain commonalities as they are born of the same fou . . .ndations and objectives. This study will aim to pinpoint the common aspects of the intellectual foundations, methods, objectives and research limitations of the different schools of thought and the models that are involved in the study of semiotics. The descriptive analysis of 2037 papers which used cooperative learning as a key word in the Education Resources Information Center' digital library between 1966 and 2010 was conducted in this paper based on several criteria. Results of the study indicated that the first paper on cooperative learning was appeared in 1988 and researchers' interest on cooperative learning increased in following years. Robyn Gillies appears to be the one who has the highest number of research studies on cooperative learning and most of the studies conducted in foreign countries using educational technologies with students who are in high school or othe . . .r upper levels. Freeware open source authoring tools are available and easily attainable over the internet for teachers to develop their own interactive instruction. This study investigated the effects of interactive exercises developed using the open source authoring tool on students' achievement using the pre-test post-test with the control group research design with 35 seventh grade students in the Science and Technology course. Findings showed that the use of interactive exercises embedded in the instruction improves the achievement of students more than the instruction having traditional exercises. Further research should compare the effects o . . .f interactive exercises completed individually and in a group format. (C) 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
