Public awareness of testicular cancer and self-examination in Turkey: A multicenter study of Turkish Urooncology Society

Background: Testicular self-examination is the easiest and cheapest way to scan testicular cancer. However, the public awareness about testicular self-examination is very low. We aimed to investigate the public awareness of Turkish people about testicular cancer and testicular self-examination. Methods: We performed a survey consisting of 10 questions concerning testicular cancer and testicular self-examination in 799 students in the first year of 12 different medical schools. Aiming for a common method of data collection, the questionnaires were administered to the students during a class just before the lesson started. Results: Eighty-nine (11.1%) of the participants reported that they had knowledge about testicular cancer, but only 11 (1.4%) of them answered all the questions about testicular cancer correctly. Eight (1%) of the participants reported that they had been performing testicular self-examination routinely once a month. Four (0.5%) of them were both well informed about testicular cancer and had been performing testicular self-examination once a month as suggested. We have examined TeV scale effects of extra spatial dimensions through the processes gamma q -> gamma q, where q = u, d, c, s, b, (u) over bar, (d) over bar, (c) over bar, (s) over bar, (b) over bar. These processes have been treated in a photon-proton collision via the main reaction pp -> p gamma p -> p gamma qX at the LHC. We have employed the equivalent photon approximation for incoming photon beams and performed statistical analysis for various forward detector acceptances.

Teacher opinions on use of self-regulation strategies at science and art centers: Turkey sample

The purpose of this study is to identify the usage status of self-regulation strategies at Science and Art Centers (BİLSEMs) that provide the gifted students with education in Turkey. This research was designed within qualitative study and survey model was used. It was conducted with 24 teachers at Science and Art Centers each in the Western Black Sea, Marmara and Aegean regions in Turkey. The teacher interview form designed by the researchers was used as the data collection instrument. Descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were used for analyzing the data. The most observed self-regulation deficiencies among BİLSEM students are deficiencies of motivation and meta-cognitive strategies. A considerable body of research shows that individuals who demonstrate a wide variety of metacognitive skills perform better on scientific problem solving. We developed a way of implementing homework in an undergraduate physics course to promote metacognitive skills. This novel homework design includes both an individual and a team phase and was implemented in a team-based learning environment. The syntheses, pK(a) and spectrospcopic characterization of [Fe(CN)(5)(H2O)](-3) and [Ru(CN)(5)(H2O)](-3) complexes of alanine(Ala), glycine(Gly), valine(Val), lysine(lys), arginine(Arg) and cysteine(Cys) complexes were investigated in aqueous solution. The spectra of the complexes containing amino acid ligands were similar to that of [Fe(CN)(5)(NH3)](-3). The pK(a) values of the complexes were measured by spectrophotometric titration at 22 degrees C and mu = 0.100 M(NaClO4).

In this paper, a simultaneous analysis of the elastic scattering data of the 16o+160 system for the energy range 5-10 MeV/nucleon is performed theoretically within the framework of the optical model formalism, by using the alpha-alpha double folding cluster potential. The a-a double folding cluster potential is evaluated by using the alpha-cluster distribution densities in the usual nucleon-nucleon double folding process with an effective alpha-alpha interaction potential. The results of the a-a double folding cluster potential analysis are compared with the findings of the phenomenological Woods-Saxon squared and nucleon-nucleon do . . .uble folding potentials. All potentials have exhibited a very good agreement with the experimental measurements for the elastic scattering angular distributions. Furthermore, it is shown that, the a-a double folding cluster potential and nucleon-nucleon double folding potential calculations provide very consistent results with each other. This paper aims to evaluate the problems of traditional housing which have continued original function and to develop solution recommendations. Within Safranbolu Eski Carsi District, 826 registered structures have been classified according to their type of utilization. The current condition of these structures along with their various treatments, land surveys and official registration documents have been analyzed. Thus, the structures used as housing have been compared and evaluated against the current condition of other structures in terms of their modification/authenticity and their project situations.

Background: Macro-element content profiles in propolis that have been previously used in traditional folk medicine have provided enough information to develop a classification of the geological origin of propolis. Within this study, we aim to contribute our research to existing literature, particularly through our use of EDXRF spectroscopy, which has not been used to study propolis before. The results of the study led us to conclude that the residues of heavy metals were a limited concentration in Turkish propolis samples. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the macro-element profiles in Turkish propolis from 18 . . .different cities of Turkey. Methods: The macro-element of 22 raw propolis samples were investigated using Energy-Dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Results: Turkish Propolis was discovered to be rich with minerals of potassium, sodium which could be more beneficial in human nutrition. Potassium content was at a relatively higher level than other elements in these samples, while calcium content was at alower level in those samples from various regions of Turkey. Conclusion: The elements of propolis that we studied were distinctive enough to make the discrimination of propolis from different locations in Turkey possible.
